Gummy Bears: The Ultimate Sweet Addiction!

Okay, have you ever thought about how fun it is to make your own gummy bears? Like, way better than the store-bought ones, right? It’s like a mini science experiment, and a sweet treat all in one. Let’s dive into this gummy bear adventure! 🍬

The finished dish — looks amazing, right?

Okay, Let’s Talk Ingredients

Alright, so here’s what you need to gather. I mean, it’s super simple—like grocery store run, quick! You’ll need:

1 packet Vegan Gelatin (just 7 grams, that’s usually about 2-1/2 teaspoons if you can’t find packets)
1 package of Jello (3 ounces of your fave flavor; I love cherry!)
1/3 cup cold water (don’t forget the cold part—it’s important!)

You can totally mix and match flavors too—after all, gummy bears should be as colorful as your mood, right? 🎨

So Here’s Why I Make This Constantly

Okay, so picture this: it’s a rainy afternoon, I’m stuck inside, and of course, I’m craving something sweet. I remember my childhood (ah, nostalgia) and BAM! Gummy bears pop into my head. So, I gather my ingredients and start making these little guys.

The kitchen smells sweet, and I’m just pouring my heart into it. My little cousin was over, and I let her help—she was SO into it, like a tiny chef in the making. We were giggling, trying to avoid the bubbles in the droppers (oh, the drama!) and by the end, we had a whole tray of gummy fun. It’s like a little party in your mouth!

Just as gorgeous from this angle too!

Here’s another angle of my gummy bear masterpiece—look at that shine and color!

The One Trick That Changes Everything

Okay, here’s the real deal—when you’re microwaving the mixture, don’t just set it and forget it! Seriously, watch it like a hawk! Microwaves are all different, and if you leave it too long, you’ll end up with a weird gummy blob. I usually do 30 seconds, stir, 30 seconds, stir, and then 15 seconds. It’s like the perfect gummy bear dance! 💃

Don’t Mess This Up (My Top Tips)

1. Don’t rush the cooling: 30 minutes in the fridge might seem like forever, but trust me, it’s worth it!
2. Watch for the bubbles: I had a whole batch once that looked like a science experiment gone wrong—all those frothy bubbles! If you pop them with a toothpick, you’ll have way prettier bears.
3. Color matters: If you mix flavors, make sure they kinda match. A grape-orange bear? Not cute.

How to Keep Them From Disappearing (Or, How to Store Them)

So here’s the scoop—store these little guys in an airtight container. They’ll last a week or so, but who are we kidding? They’ll be gone way before that! But if you wanna keep ’em fresh, sprinkle a tiny bit of powdered sugar in the container—I swear by this!

If You Liked This, You’ll Probably Like These Too

If you love these gummy bears, you HAVE to try making chocolate-dipped pretzels or homemade marshmallows. Seriously, these snacks will make you the coolest person in the room!

Alright, what’s your favorite gummy bear flavor?

Let me know! I’m always looking for new flavor combos to try. Happy gummy bear making! 🍬❤️

Ingredients

  • 1 packet Vegan Gelatin ((7 grams or 2-1/2 teaspoons))
  • 1 package Jello ((3 ounce))
  • 1/3 cup Cold water
  • Instructions

    1. Gather your supplies and ingredients!
    2. Add a packet of Vegan Gelatin to a measuring cup or microwavable bowl.
    3. Pour in a package of Jello and stir to combine.
    4. Measure 1/3 cup of water in a separate container, then add it to the Vegan Gelatin mixture. Stir until the Vegan Gelatin and Jello are combined with the water.
    5. Microwave the mixture for 30 seconds on high power and then stir gently.Return to the microwave for another 30 seconds and stir. Microwave 15 more seconds, stirring a final time.Microwave time will depend on the power of your microwave. The Jello powder should be completely dissolved (no sandy bits at the bottom) and starting to thicken a tiny bit.
    6. Use a food safe eye dropper to pick up some of the gummy bear mixture. Our gummy bear molds came with droppers.
    7. Fill the molds with the gummy bear mixture. Go slowly and carefully at first until you get a good idea of how much liquid is needed to fill each spot. The top part of your eye dropper might be filled with bubbles. Try to avoid adding these to the mold. No worries if a few bubbles get added – you can leave them as is, or pop them with a toothpick.
    8. Fill the rest of the mold and then place the bears in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set.
    9. Once the gummy bears have set you can remove them from the silicone mold. To do this, press up on the bottom part of the mold while lifting the bears out.Optional: Set the gummy bears on a parchment lined tray for 1 – 2 hours to dry out a bit.
    10. Your homemade gummy bears are ready to serve!
    11. Repeat the same process to make gummy bears in all your favourite colours and flavours!
